The Alfa is one of the deepest diving submarines in the world today. They are capable of diving some 3000 feet. The Alfa class is also one of the fastest at 40 knots. The V.K. Konovalov was featured in the Tom Clancy novel "The Hunt for Red October".
The Blue Water Navy kit is the first and only accurate model of this class. Using plans provided by sources inside the Russian navy, their kit has all the details seen on the real thing. The kit measures 8 3/4 inches long. The hull is a single piece casting. Fine pewter metal make up the dive planes. A small photo-etched brass sheet is included.
