The HIJMS Furutaka is the first large scale resin Japanese ship to see release. The kit was two years in development. The kit contains over 70 metal parts, over 40 Resin parts and an extensive brass detail sheet. The main deck has all the features seen on IJN ships of the period. A detailed set of instructions along with a small decal sheet complete this kit.
The IJN heavy cruiser Furutaka took part in the Naval battles surrounding the island of Guadalcanal. Furutaka was on of the ships in Vice Admiral Mikawa force sent to deal with the US Navy and the landings around the island. She saw action at the American defeat at Savo Island. Furutaka was later lost in action during the Battle of Cape Esperance.
