The Type XXI U-Boat was the most modern Submarine created by the German Navy during World War II. This Submarine incorporated the latest in design features such as a streamlined hull, Snorkel Gear, and high power batteries so that the sub could run at 18 knots while submerged. Due to allied bombing, construction delays, and a new design, only 119 were commissioned and only one actually went on combat patrol before the war's end in May 1945.
The Blue Water Navy kit measures 8.75 inches long and is a perfect starter kit. The hull is a single casting with metal dive planes. A small photo etched brass sheet is included.
