USS Balch (DD-363)

USS Balch (DD-363), a Porter Class Destroyer
Stock Number: YKM-350103 Price: $130.00

The Porter Class DDs were originally classified as "Destroyer Leaders". They were heavier than the standard DD and were to lead the smaller DDs in torpedo attacks against enemy shipping. Our model of the Porter Class is represented by the USS Balch in her 1942 fit. The USS Balch was present at the Battle of Midway in June 1942 and helped rescue many survivors from the mortally wounded USS Yorktown during that battle. She went on to fight in many battles and both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans during WWII.

Our model of the USS Balch is a multimedia kit comprising a single resin upper hull, a single piece lower hull (full hull or waterline model), resin stacks, turrets and platforms. Other features include a detailed resin superstructure, smokestacks and deck. Small parts are cast in fine pewter for extra strength. A photo-etched brass sheet completes the kit with over 75 parts.

Ships of class: USS Porter (DD-356), USS  Selfridge (DD-357), USS  McDougal (DD-358), USS Winslow (DD-359), USS Phelps (DD-360), USS Clark (DD-361), USS  Moffett (DD-362) and USS Balch (DD-363) .
