USS Daniel Webster (SSBN-626), Lafayette class ballistic missile submarine

The USS Daniel Webster was part of the Lafayette class of Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines built during the 1960s. SSBN was commissioned with a unique set of bow-mounted dive planes instead of the usual configuration on the sail. This configuration was only applied to SSBN-626 and did not
live up to USN expectations. This configuration was not repeated on any other USN Submarine. USS Daniel Webster was converted back to the normal configuration in 1969.

The Blue Water Navy kit of the USS Daniel Webster measures 14.57 inches long and is a perfect first kit. The hull is a single casting with metal
dive planes and comes complete with resin, white metal, and photo-etch parts. A great weekend project.
