USS Johnston (DD-557), Fletcher class destroyer

The USS Johnston is perhaps one of the most famous of the Fletcher Class Destroyers. Johnston, along with a few DDs and DEs fought off an entire Japanese task force at the Battle of Samar on October 25th 1944.Unfortunately, the Johnston was sunk during the battle and half her crew was lost but she did help turn away a vastly superior enemy force from reaching the landing ships in Leyte Gulf.
Our model of the Johnston is a square bridge version of the famous Fletcher Class Destroyers. We originally released this model way back in 1992 and is now updated for 2000. This kit has a totally revised photo-etched brass fret and updated parts almost making it a completely new kit. The kit is offered as a full hull kit with the hull cast in two sections for those of you who like to model waterline. This model is a multimedia kit and is comprised of Resin, White Metal, and Photo-etched parts. A full set of instruction and decals is also included in this kit.
