She participated in the Battle off Rennell Island, the last of the seven naval battles for Guadalcanal. There she fought the Japanese with another Northampton Class Cruiser, USS Chicago which was lost in that battle. USS Louisville went on to fight in the Aleutians and in the Central Pacific. She survived the war and was decommissioned in 1946 and scrapped in 1959. Our model of the Louisville depicts her in her early 1942/43 fit.
