The Victor III Class Attack Submarine is rated equal to the USN's Sturgeon class. The Victor III class introduced the large passive sonar array on the rudder. the feature would be included on the later Akula class and Sierra class.
The Blue Water Navy kit is the first and only accurate model of this class. Using plans provided by sources in the Russian Navy, their kit has all the details seen on the real boat. The kit measures 11 3/4 inches long. The hull is a single piece casting. Fine pewter metal make up the dive planes. A small photo-etched brass sheet is included.
